Babbel 2.0 has one goal in mind: to become a successful aid to students and teachers in the classroom. As discussed before, Babbel 2.0 has been completely revamped. We have added a more focused approach on core lessons but also on build up lessons.
For example, rather than teaching users of Babbel how to survive in a new situational context in a foreign country, we want to build the user up to that situation. What words, grammatical structures, ideas, will they need to know to communicate in this situation? Rather than focusing on memorizing useful questions and answers, we want to truly build the user of the software up to be able to understand why they are saying what they are, how to recognize the situation, and how to communicate successfully.
This structure works wonderful in a classroom. Rather than throw students into a situation, the teacher can slowly build them up. Understanding is always more effective than pure memorization.
Babbel 2.0 emphasizes this gradual buildup because this is the method teachers all over the world use. Before multiplication, students learn how to add and subtract. This is the same thing with language: one lesson here on basic grammar will lead up to a lesson on how to use that in a real world situation. Teachers can use Babbel 2.0 as a stand alone lesson, or alongside their own lesson plans. It is their choice; but both work wonderfully.
Babbel also executes these lesson plans in fun and exciting way for students: visuals, audio, and text on laptops, iPhones, or tablets (see ‘’How It Works’’ for the benefits of this method). We have also taken many of the fun and exciting games from Babbel 1.0 and brought them to Babbel 2.0.
What is perhaps most exciting, is that since Babbel is accompanied with detailed explanations from our language experts, students no longer will feel lost if, or when, studying alone at home. Even better, the Babbel app, or website, will be easily accessible by students at home, therefore allowing them to keep the fun and modern language software (photos, visuals, and audio).
With Babbel 2.0 we are creating a fun textbook—something which is rare to see in the schooling world. Babbel can be used by students alone and/or with their parents at home. Either way, it is a walking and modern school textbook.
